CONTROL is a a series of combined self portraits, exploring themes of confidence and regulation over the course of twenty interconnected paintings. As a young woman recently diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), I've spent a lot of time on the many ways this diagnosis, or lack thereof, has and continues to affect my day-to-day life. Interspersed among the figurative portraits, I include written components referencing my birth control information label and various (combined) diary entries across the span of 2018-2025. Amongst the twenty pieces are two experimental canvases created using a variety of menstrual products.
